Intro and questions

I'm new to this forum and am grateful to have found it.  Yesterday I took the capsule for the Sitz Marker Study.  Tuesday is when I'm scheduled to have follow up x-rays.  I'm 56 and have had chronic constipation for 40 years - now it's to the point that I'm praying for a surgery because I'm constantly miserable.  Last month I was impacted three times.  Too much info?   If so, I apologize.

While reading some of the messages today I've come across terms that I am unfamiliar with and wonder if there is a page of definitions here.   Fun terms like colonic inertia, rectosigmoid, hypomotility.  Not to mention the differenty types of surgeries that could possibly be in my future.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have colonic inertia which is a slow transit constipation....it is not simply constipation either, it is a nightmare. I am 39 and have been constipated ever since I can remember. I also have an outlet problem, anismus....this is basically a pelvic floor dysfunction. I take miralax everyday in hefty doses to get the stool to move through the colon, then I have to use suppositories to get the stool to the rectum....THEN, I have to manually disimpact the rectum because I can't push down to have a bm. This results in many divided moves and hours on the toilet. Please join us at total colectomy part 32. This is where all of us with colonic inertia post.
