I was just released from the hospital today after a small bowell obstruction. I had always had trouble with my previous surgeon which was a colorectal surgeon. He was good with my surgeries but since he doesnt seem to know what to do with me. Well, in the hospital I had a consult with a gastrointestinal-general surgeon who sat and talked to me about what my ct scan showed and what I was looking at in the future. I like how he talked to me. I also asked around the unit a bit when I ran into patients and nurses and things of what they thought of this doctor. I also want to look him up if I can. So my question is, I was always told to see colorectal surgeons for they are the best. This doctor told me that there is some really hard stool in there and that he thought part of my colon wasnt working, he said if it was up to him, he would do a sitz marker test again, and see what part isnt working then go in remove that part which will remove the hernia as well. Is it ok to go to a general surgeon or better to stay with a colorectal surgeon?
