After Emergency Surgery

Okay, ended up going into emergency surgery due to an obsruction, was released on tuesday and doing ok. The stoma is clear up on my waist if not higher so I see a problem there but I am more concerned with the way the stoma looks. It does look pink and moist but its a round ball that looks like its ready to explode any minute. Both of my other stomas were almost flesh with the skin and looked really healthy, this one looks really sick and about ready to explode, the surgeon says looks good, Im scared. how do I really know?

Remember, it's swollen to begin with and will decrease in size a bit over the next few weeks. An ideal stoma actually sticks out an inch or so. Most people prefer it as it helps prevent stool (and the stoma) from getting stuck under the wafer (a lot of people have to resort to wearing convex appliances because of a flush stoma).

As long as it's pink/red and moist, all is good.
