trouble conceiving after ileostomy

hi i had a permanent ileostomy in 2001 when i was 21 i have been trying to conceive for the past 7 and a half yrs with no sucess and i have been wondering if it could be due to my surgery im just wondering if anyone else has been going through this

Welcome, raf-wife. I have never heard that having ostomy surgery can make it difficult to become pregnant. There are several women on here who have had babies after surgery. Hopefully, they'll post soon.

Have you discussed this with your OB/GYN? Maybe he or she can run some tests to find out what is going on.

thanks for replying i have been for a hsg test today to check my fallopian tubes for adhesians but have to wait for my next appointment at the fertility clinic for the results

Some times scar tissue can complicate things...glad to hear you are being check out...sometimes you just need a little help after having major abdominal surgery.

I too am concerned about being able to concieve especially after having so many surgeries. Please keep us posted. I'm waiting for another surgery. I had corrective jpouch surgery about 6 weeks ago and reversal will be in about 6 to 12 weeks. GOOD LUCK with TTC

hi there mre i have to wait until the end of august for my next clinic appointment and they will give me the results then i will update when i find out good luck to you too and thanks to everyone for replying
