Does anyone have United Health Care for insurance? (in USA, obviously)

Hi everyone!

Thanks to my best bud, Zoe, I got a new job teaching 5th grade! :)

Now I'm switching insurance and as of Oct. 1st I'll have United Health Care...I'm really nervous that they won't cover my ostomy supplies. My old insurance, Cigna, covered everything, so I was spoiled.

Does anyone have any knowledge about this? I'm really stressing about it; I don't know how I would ever afford my supplies by myself.

I've got UHC and it will really depend on the plan itself...your employer determines that!

When I started life with my ostomy every thing was covered but over the years I pay a little more out of pocket. We are small business owners and have had to adjust the deductibles over the years:( but it's still not horrible.

I have found that purchasing items that are not covered by my insurance (Sure Seals for one), through the medical suppliers that don't accept insurance, are much cheaper!

My husband has United Healthcare. I was working and Had Anthem. Beacuse I was off work so long with my illness that ended up with me having an ileostomy I lost my insurance. Now my husbands is my primary insurance. So far they have been great. When I had Anthem, what they did not pay United Healthcare paid the rest. I just had to send United Healthcare the papers that showed that I was no longer with Anthem. I just keep telling my hubby that he can't quit work or get fired. I don't know what we would do with out it. I have spent the better part of the last 5 monthes in the hospital so I know my medical expences have been substantial.

Thank God you have your husband! Maybe someday that will be me, but in the meantime it's reassuring to hear that United seems to be okay. Thank you guys for replying :)

I have UHC and my company plan does not cover supplies. I am in the appeals process to get them to cover my supplies now.

Oh God, I just had a mini heart attack. How do you get your supplies then? How much does it cost you?
