Am I the only one that still uses stomahesive paste?

I have had my ostomy for 9 years and have basically kept the same style supplies, inlcuding the paste.  As I read on this forum, it appears, I may be in the minority.  Do these Eakin seals function the same as the paste?  I may need to switch so any advice would be appreciated!

I use the paste, used to be all I could use was eakin seals, now with this one I cant, I have to use the paste.

If it aint broke dont fix it, thats what I was always told. No reason to change to seals if the paste has worked well for you for 9 years. I know I wouldn't, but totally your choice

i use paste! and i have tons of crazy stories to go along with it! but paste is what i have always used, and i have some strips and seal things, but theydont make sense to me, i just stick with what i know

I use a little of both eakin and paste. I agree though if it ain't broke--and you are happy do what you've been doing.

We all have different preferences turn so I would suggest trying a sample.

There are two 'brands' of seals and in my opinion they work differently...Eakin Seal also protects your skin but does leave a little residue that you might not like (it does come off with soap and water) and the Adapt Ring comes off better but I don't think it protects your skin as well.

Neither of those rings contain alcohol so there is no stinging if applied too soon.

I started with paste almost 11 years ago and since switching to Eakin Seals I've had great looking skin. I am always amazed that the WOC Nurses cannot believe how good it looks...

Do you ever look through the catalogs for medical suppliers? There are some really great things that have come about since we started our ostomy lives!! Do you use clips or velcro on the tail? Sure Seals on the wafer?

Theold "If it aint broke dont fix it" saying is right but maybe it could be of benefit for you to try the seals. Sometimes you do things and think it is the best way until something else comes along and you find there are better ways.

All I know is that I have found the seals work better and are easier to use than the paste. I dont know about the others but I use Eakin seals and they are wonderful. But as the other saying goes "Each to their own".

I used paste happily until it suddenly started leaking on me... now I use eakin or adapt rings and like them. I'd say try them but if the paste works for you, no reason to change.

I used paste and had lots of leaks. I changed to eakin seals and convex wafers and have not had a leak yet.

I use the paste. I haven't changed supplies since surgery in '02. It all still works well for me and don't plan on changing anything.
