New and need advice about bags

I just had a transverse colostomy on Sept 13. I've been home for a week and need to order my first supplies. The hospital sent me home with clear (ugh) Convatec drainable bags and got me a starter kit with scissors and the like. I know that I want to get opaque bags, but I keep hearing about different brands and sizes and am I am getting a bit overwhelmed with all the variety out there. As I understand it most companies will send samples of different bags and wafers to try out. How do I go about getting these samples? Do I call the parent companies or do I get them from an ordering service? I was thinking of using Edgepark for my supplies as a friend's mother used them and really liked them. I feel like someone was supposed to give me an instruction manual for all this stuff but forgot to give it to me and now i'm wondering what to order.

     It sure is overwhelming to say the least..lol.. !  Yes, contact Edgepark.  They have a catalog which can be sent to your home.  Personally, I really like the one piece Coloplast bags.  They stick very well.  Your stoma will most likely shrink in size for a month or so.  Mine is now 1 inch in diameter and I order the precut one inch opaque bags.  I also use the Protective Barrier Wipes and Adhesive Removal Wipes.  At the moment, I have a bit of irritation and am using Nystop which was by prescription.  You sprinkle that on and wipe with a tissue.  Oh, I also use the Adapt lubricant/deodorizer, which I place inside my bag.  Good luck.
