Surgery Update!

Hi All,
Well I had surgery for division of adhesions and only stayed in hospital over night, the surgery went well although I am sore, but thats to be expected I guess. My surgeon said that on my left side I had a rather large adhesion that was banding and was the likely culprit for the pain I had been experiencing, he also found one other adhesion and fixed that as well and said the rest of my small bowel looked pretty good so hopefully this is the end of any surgeries for me , Thanks for the well wishes , take care

Wow, overnight? I just had adhesion surgery the beginning on August and was in for 5 days! Also, been doing good ( although I did have a small mini blockage 2 weeks ago-so just be careful-I think I might have eaten too fast-lol-a few months on a liquid diet can do that! )

Did they do the adhesion lysis laporoscopically?

Yes Rosemary it was done laproscopically, there were 3 lapro incisions made and the scope was put through my stoma to find the adhesions. Dan adhesion surgery is where they cut out the adhesion (scar tissue) that causes pain and in my case was becoming increasingly painful just from the simple tasks like bending over to pick something up and the pain was horrible, however surgery is the reason we get the adhesions in the first place but some can cause lots of problems and others can be painless. My surgeon said the adhesion that was causing me problems was banding over and was starting to stricture so I was lucky we got to it now rather than later. He also fixed another smaller one and said the rest of my bowel looked good. So fingers crossed I won't require surgery any more. Take care all
