So I'm quitting smoking and I'm munching more. I try to stay to healthier munchies.... but last night I was munching pretty late. I was up almost HOURLY emptying my bag. I was exhausted today and I feel I was up so much because I ate so late. But I don't know what the digestion time is from mouth to pouch or if that even matters..... Does anyone have a cut off time for eating to make sleeping any better?
still a lot to learn

I think all our bodies have different transit times depending on how much intestine we have left, what is eaten, or if anything meds were taken to slow motility. It's been over a year since my surgery, and I am still in the *testing* mode. I try to not eat or drink much for about
3 hours before I go to bed and I take 2 Immodiums. That gives me a good night's rest (emptying about
every 3 hours).

Bearbear, I quit smoking too the day of my surgery, June 21st, so it has been exactly 5 months today. WOW, I can't believe I made it this far. I have gained roughly 7 or 8 pounds too because I have been STARVING. I have had to be careful about
over eating and making sure I walk everyday.
I get up once or twice a night to empty my bag, no matter when I stop eating. I just learned recently to never eat high fiber foods too late in the evening. Many have told me not to eat after 5pm, but that just doesn't work with my schedule. I am a bus driver and don't get home until 6pm, so we eat dinner around 7.
Try to not eat after 6pm or so and see if this helps.

Bearbear, I'm a late eater but I take two Immodium before bed and I think that does slow things down. My doctor also has me taking two before each meal. I still empty every three hours during the night but I empty a lot during the day too.

i havent found that it makes a difference. Some nights i eat at 1030 and have nothing alll night, others i dont eat past 6 and have to empty three times, it doesn't seem to matter what food, or what time, it just does what it does. i always eat at night, because if i dont eat pretty close to bed time i wake up in the middle of the night starving!

I live on my own and so eat dinner when I feel like it. Sometimes, it's at 6.30pm, other times not till 9pm. Like Summer, I've never found it makes a difference.
