Hello everyone,im new to this forum,i spent most of my time on the UC forum.
I had surgery(laprascopic sub total colectomy) one month ago,i battled UC for about 3 years and the last year was sure hell so i decided to have the bloody thing out,im 36 so wanted it done whilst i was still young and hopefully make a faster recovery and to be honest its better than i would ever of anticipated,i have had my bad moments offcoarse but i feel sooooooooooooo much better already, the bag is really not as bad as i thought once you accept it that is!
I know its early days and i dont want to tempt fate or anything but i just want to say that the surgery definately is not the end of the road,it has given me my life back and my wife and daughter(of 10 months) are seeing the benifits already!
I have the option of re-connection in the near future but as things are going i am more than happy not to have it done,im happy the way things are.
Although i never posted on here before,i still read most posts beforehand and most people were happy with there surgery,i didnt want to post on here 'should i or should i not have surgery' as it was down to me at the end of the day and its a decision im so glad i made,im sure there will be more tough times ahead but so far so good.Life has just started again!!!!
I start work in 3 weeks time, that is another barrier that i hope to cross and in the new year i hope to get back to my running,i run 10ks and half marathons with my local running club, having a bag will not hold me back, only make me more determined!!!!
I will stay on this forum now, heres to 2011!!!!
