Trigirl - this last change I probably had it off for close to an hour. And it worked with me! I do the naked shower thing (or try to) when I do a full change so I did that. Did a lot of cleaning of the area to get the remainder of the Eakin Seal off. I shaved and prepped to get out of the shower.
I used my hair dryer on cool to completely dry the area. Then I put a little hydrocortisone on to help the broken skin areas. More hair dryer.... that took a while. I was waiting for my stoma to become active but it didn't! Thankfully. Next I applied some powder and got my skin barrier prep out. Took a deep breath and blotted away! ouch
More hair dryer. Then I used half of an Adapt seal and stretched and pulled it. I used a Hollister two piece system this time and the Hollister product specialist told me to put the wafer on in a diamond shape instead of a square - so I followed orders. The top and bottom of the wafer seem a little loose but I think that's due to the amount of powder I put on. I'm expecting this one to not last as long but we're on day two now and no problems. No itching, no burning.
I prefer the Hollister system but I don't think my skin liked the initial change from ConvaTec to Hollister. I'm hoping this new sample kit I was sent will work better so I can stick with Hollister. I haven't tried Coloplast but I also haven't seen that many people have. For the most part I hear many positives with Hollister - even with their botched wafer incident!
