Weak rectal muscles...questions

My surgeon said that my rectal muscles were a bit weak. When I tighten them they are fine, but when resting they are a bit weak so she is worried about leakage at night. She will keep some of the rectum (said something about stripping). What does this mean for my uc? I don't want to go through this and then still have problems. Has anyone had this procedure?
