Hello! Welcome to Healing well.
I have not had that surgery, but I may be able to offer some advice.
I think that living with chronic constipation would just lead you to have recurrent rectal prolapse. I'm sure there are other complications to having such slow gut motility, you should definitely ask your Dr. that question.
I also feel that you probably do have a disease process going on, it just hasn't been diagnosed yet-like MAYBE pelvic floor dysfunction. I would stay on top of your Dr.'s to make them figure out WHY you keep having these problems. If you are not happy with their answers, get a second opinion.
It sounds very uncomfortable with the way you are living now. Surgery may help you to finally feel better permanently.
After my surgeries, it took quite a few months before I got my period again. I believe it was around 5 or 6 months later. Surgery stresses your body, and although it's not necessarily abnormal to not have one for a few months after, You should see your GYN to make sure there is not another problem going on (that may or may not be related).
