driving after surgery

   I took my daughter today to get her driving permit.  She passed. It is so good to see the life starting to come back to her.  The surgeon never said and it isn't on her papers, does anyone know how long after surgery are you not to drive.  She can't wait to get behind the wheel.  I'll have to call on Monday, but I am sure someone on her would know. Thank you

A lot of people wait about 2-3 weeks. If she is not on pain meds and is not really sore I don't see why she can't start driving now.

I drove 7 days after surgery. I had been off of pain meds for several days. My understanding is that one can drive provided they feel like it and they're off narcotics.

its usually 2-3 weeks, and of course it depends on the pain meds! obviously if you are on those you can't drive. Or if you are feeling any dizziness or anything you shouldn't. I think it might would be painful to sit up for a long drive, or very tiring shortly after surgery.

Thanks for your suggestions, hasn't been on pain meds since over a week. I just didn't know if it would hurt her.
She is just learning to drive so I am sure it won't be for a very long drive.( ha ha).

     I never took any pain meds...never had much pain.  I drove about a week after discharge from the hospital.

i got back behind the wheel after 3 weeks - the only issues I had was the lap part of the seat belt annoyed my stoma - for this i put some safety clips/pins on the belt to keep the lap part loose. also i found it difficult to twist & turn to see traffic when joining main roads - this was a temp issue
