couple questions

was only diagnosed in september 2010. antibiotic induced uc they say. had emergency surg.toxic megacolon. took all but a small piece of colon out. wore bag three months and was hooked back up in january 2011. only had noticble symptoms 2 weeks before it all happened(diarrea and blood, then just bloody diarrea)

On canasa, not working.

1)Any idea why they would leave such an irritated piece in me?

2)Before a movement now, hits like a ton of bricks and when I actually go, whole belly contracts/spasms strongly. have almost constant pressure in lower back lately and more blood. What's this about?

Gonna eventually go ahead and get j-pouch when they ok it, but want to control these symptoms better til then. Any suggestions/comments will be helpful, thanks

When all this first happened, I was totally ignorant of uc or my digestive system really. Sounds stupid I guess, but I don't know what piece for sure. In the hospital I remember the surg say i had this much colon left, holding his hands out to what I guess to have been round 12 to 15 inches tops. He recently turned me over to colon and rectal surgery consultants,p.c. got appointment soon with her again and have loads of things I need answered now. After reading alot more on this, I've no idea why they left the irritated piece in. Said he saw irritation still before hooking me up. Don't know why he didn't take it out and make a j-pouch.      

Knowing I will have to have two more surgs now because of piece left in is kinda depressing and stressful with the blood and all still happening. Got a 6 and 2 year old that need all I can give them of myself, want to get back to "normal" and not worry bout surgs
