Sensitive skin under the wafer..what do you use??

My daughter has had her ileostomy for a little over a year now. We've been using the same wafer (pediatric from holister) since we were discharged from the hospital, however we've been noticing since she is very active we're only getting one day wear time. So about a month ago we switched to the holister Extended wear wafer. It seemed ok in the beginning but after two weeks she started to get white pimples/blisters under her wafer. As time passed they were getting worse and worse. She even developed blisters on her actual stoma. We then tried the Flexwear, still no good.
We went back to the pediatric wafer until her skin was clear again. Then we tried the coloplast. That only lasted a few hours before peeling right off and then her skin was red and irritated all over. I do not like the Convatec pouches or wafers, tried them and they didn't work well either.
So we are back on the holister pediatric wafers.
Can anyone recommend something else for my daughter. She cannot stay on the pediatric pouches, they just don't hold up. She will be going into Kindergarten next year so we need to find something that will stick better so we don't have to worry about leaks.

Being so small and so active has to present its own set of challenges. I hope a WOCN can have some good advice and suggestions for you for your little girl.

The all pectin wafer is worth a try but it may need some additional reinforcing with a sure seal or a "skin friendly" tape on the outer edges of the wafer.

It's usually the brand we like the least that works the best:( Do you use convexity with the Peds Hollister one? You may want to try a skin test with a Sure Seal...if lit's the activity that's causing the decreased wear time that may help if she doesn't have an allergy to it. Go to www.alpglobal.com and request a sample. The smallest might not be small enough but you can cut it in half and make it work.

thank you for all the suggestions. I was told to put small cutouts of the product on my daughters most sensitive parts of her skin, like under the arm or inner thighs, but nothing is easy when you're dealing with a 4 year old. I've tried to do this but the screaming fits she throws, it's just not worth it. She swears it hurts her and will rip it off.
So that experiment didn't really work for us. Although I am going to try that again in a few days.
I do use a barrier wipe skin prep (3M).
I am going to call her hospital and speak to the WOCN nurse. Hopefully she can help me.
I am hoping that my daughter will somehow outgrow this.

PolishDan - I'm afraid to put anything on her skin that will burn. So thank you for the info. but I don't think we're ready to try that. Like I said I do use a barrier wipe, the one time I didn't use it some of her skin came off with the wafer.

by the way it is def. an allergic reaction and not a fungal infection. We thought it was fungal and was using the special power however it only cleared up when we switched the wafers back to the peds. Once we went back to the other wafer (extendwear) it started right back up.

oh my gosh polishdan...thank you so so so much. This is perfect. I've been having a hard time explaining it to all of the teachers/aids that are in and out of my daughters life. Her ice skating coach was the worse since she was a young teenage girl, who had no idea what I was talking about. She looked at me like I had 10 heads.
