Passing mucous and blood rectally two months after colectomy

The stoma nurse said it's totally normal when I feel rectal pressure and have to pass mucous, she said it would happen continually until I have the J-pouch.

But sometimes I pass blood along with the mucous, sometimes as much blood as mucous and there's blood on the toilet paper.

This is probably a common experience but I am not sure if I should become concerned or if it normal.

a little bit of blood from the rectum is nothing to be concerned about, but sounds like you're having more than just a little bit. talk to your surgeon and see what he thinks.

THIS IS NORMAL!!! And you might have a bowel movement too, which is NORMAL!

I have the same thing going on, my Gi just gave me some cortifoam. It helps alot. He said it's because the rectum is still inflammed. He said once the j-pouch is put in the rest of the diseased rectum will be removed. I had it 1 week after surgery and still today 7 weeks later. I wouldn't worry about but you might need some meds.
