does anyone have any info on post op high output ilieostomys.....mine was done 4 days ago and is very active. is this common for new ostomys or do they slow down after time??? mine is slow in the morning but once i start to eat im emptying 10 plus times a day....

My husbands was and still is quite active. Since he drinks so much water/fluids and needs to pee more often now he just empties what is in the pouch at the same time. Yes in the early morning when he wakes us and before eating it is very slow which is the optimum time for him to do the full changes with very little problems.

He probably empties around that same amount of times each day too. Even though he could wait he just figures...."I'm there, might as well empty what is in the pouch" and it keeps it from getting too full.

Mine was high output in the earlier days but it does settle in time, normally as your diet improves and you are eating more normal foods you will notice a difference. Certain foods will like pasta's, potatoes, banana's help to thicken output and I find they are a little slower at moving through. Hang in there it does get better. Take care

They sure do take some getting used to

but I am used to mine now and happy with it.
