Welcome, Lovetoski, I'm sorry you're having leakage and itchy skin, but am happy you found us.
A couple of things that helped me in the beginning, which I still use today, are:
* Nystatin powder, an anti-fungal prescribed by your doctor, that goes on the skin around the stoma
* Calmoseptine Ointment, also prescribed by your doctor, goes on the skin right around the stoma to protect the skin from leakage. You can learn more about
it at www.calmoseptineointment.com
* Convex wafers help prevent leakage, because they push the stoma up and away from the skin
* Eakin Seals are great at keeping the output from touching the skin
* Adhesive remover wipe to remove the wafer and non-scented soap for sensitive skin to clean the skin around the stoma
* Sometimes, I just take a Benadryl if there's no leakage, but I'm feeling itchy under my wafer
If there is leakage and it itches, then you should change the wafer. You might want to call your stoma nurse or surgeon to have them look at your skin to offer advice, as well. Welcome again, and please keep us posted on how you're doing!
