I had one person INSIST to me that I must be lieing and still have some large intestine left because, according to him, there is no way on this earth you can live without a colon. No matter what I said, he just wouldn't believe me that I no longer had mine!

It is so funny what people will say when they feel they need to say something, but they just aren't sure what...

One thing I get all the time when people hear about it is, "Why do they need to take your colon out? You LOOK fine!"

this thread is HILARIOUS! :D thanks guys for the laughs! i had someone asking me before my ileo op if my urine is going to be out to the bag through the stoma as well. i was shocked at the ignorance. i said no, it's a different system and we have the bladder and urethra for that. it just amazed me how little ppl know.

Hodaya.. I had the same thing! a friend of mine (jokingly) offered to carry my bag of wee when we were running!

Remembered another one from my MIL too! when I had my first Ileo she pipes up 'Oh I had one of those once!'.... shocked I said 'when????" knowing perfectly well she hadn't. She meant a catheter when she'd had a baby! The worst thing about her is that she throws the words around like she knows what she's talking about AND her own son had a temp ileo for a while. Next time she stays with us I'm tempted to give her a practical lesson in anatomy ;-0
