Hi, I had my reversal 10 days ago and I didn't think to ask my surgeon certain things, now I'm not seeing my surgeon for another 8-12 weeks n my gp doesn't seem to know much about this operation, I was just wondering if there was anyone who had had a reversal who could help me please.
My questions are -
How long was it before the skin clips were taken out? My surgeon said 10 days but when I went to the nurse today she said she would only take every other one out in case it bust open!have
How long after surgery can you have a bath? My surgeon said to av a shower so I'm not soaking the wound but didn't think to ask how long for?
Is it normal to get very bad stomach cramps now and again? Feels like someone is stamping on my ribs!
If you could help at all I would be very grateful.

Hi! I am 9 days post-op from my reversal!! Congratulations!! OK- I do not have skin clips, I had 3 very loosley ties sutures that dissolved and my would is sort of open while it is healing. Almost healed totally!

You can have a bath 10 days post-op but with these skin clips you may want to verify that with your surgeon!

The pain....oh the pain!! The surgery is done by laproscope and that causes lots of swelling and gas type pain so what you are feeling is normal, plus i think until you guts get use to food again this will happen of and on.....it almost feels to me like the poop is dropping into the pouch and it hurts!!!!

i'm sorry i blabbed...i'm assuming you had a j-pouch?

Thanks for your reply. No I don't have a j pouch, I had my ileostomy for a different reason, I had a 3rd degree tear during childbirth which wasn't repaired correctly so 5 years later had to have surgery to correct it and the surgeon did an ileostomy to give my muscles time to heal and rest. I had the ileostomy for 5 months.
I had the first good night sleep last night with no gas pains :) I'm sure they will come back from time to time but it was lovely to have a night off from them.
I'm worrying more about my wound now after the nurse talked about it "bursting open!"
