i got myself so scared by reading another forum. i got sepsis twice and peritonitis twice. i have not had any problems with my loop ileo in te 4 months ive had it. does thst mean my small bowel is free from adhesions? i am scheduled for reversalin jan and fear it wont work b/c of adhesions. my. said my scar tissue is softening up and he will remove the adesions if needed. im just so afraid. i dont want to have this bag forever. thanksfor reading.

Each and every person is different. Some have issues and others do not. Just focus and concentrate on getting better and stronger. Try not to read so much and assume it will happen to you.

It is good to have some info so you can be aware if something doesn't seem quite right you have an idea of what to question.

I over analyze everything so I know what you are feeling...but I also try to keep it in perspective and have an awareness in the off chance my husband develops any issues.

Good luck with the reversal...keep your Dr informed if there is anything to report to him. If it was possible for most ostomates to eventually get rid of needing a pouch I am sure they would opt for it...but for many of them that is just not possible. So count your blessings and try to focus on what is lying ahead for you which you want so much. Just be patient.

I went to see my dr. on Tuesday and he addressed my fears. He told me not to worry about blockages & adhesions since it is rare for them to cause problems. Also, my next appointment is in Dec for my pre-op which I am very excited to say the least. He said if he can't close it through the stoma site b/c of the scar tissue, he will go through my scar where my wound was and do it that way. He also said that there is a slight chance I will wake up with the pouch which was very good to hear. I guess that's as good as a guarantee as you can get. He was quite happy regarding my wound healing. When I transferred to him, my wound was 20 cm by 15 cm. or maybe 15 x 20. It was large. Now, it's only as wide as my finger nail and maybe 6 inches long and shrinking each day. If that's the size of my scar, that's ok. My doc wants to give me a skin graft anyway, but I hope it shrinks more so I wont need it.

Thanks AnotherUCwife for your words of wisdom. I stress about everything and even with my doc saying theres a slim chance of having the bag forever, I still worry. It's just my personality.
