chronic pain from colon -rectum removal surgery, for over ten years...HELP!!

Yes, I wonder about the TENS units too, particularly for rectal nerve pain.. I hope you can talk to a doctor there about that for your situation and find some hope. Please keep me posted on how that goes.

I have had my ileostomy for 10 years and about 4 years ago they decided to make it permanent and do a proctectomy. After the surgery I ended up with a MASSIVE infection and it took nearly two full years for the incision to heal closed. Ever since then I have had a lot of chronic pelvic pain. It was managed decently well with some narcotic and some nerve pain medications until about a week ago when all of the sudden I started having horrible horrible pain right where my rectum was. I had a scan and nothing. The doctor said there was a minor infection on the surface but nothing that should be causing this pain. I don't know what to do. I have not had pain like this since the surgery. I can't even sit. I am just feeling so hopeless. I was just wondering if anyone who has this pain has any suggestions.
