so although right now i am having lots of problems w/ my ostomybag i want to do this program w/  international living.org  and the one i want to do is go to tazania for5 weeks and i would be living w/ a host family my question is should i have my bag off before i go. but if i do i could end uup falling behind in school again.

Sounds like a great program! I'd say you need to first recover from surgery and get your pouch under control so that you're comfortable with it. Then you can decide. It's certainly possible to travel with the bag or with the j pouch, but you will want to wait until you're all the way healed and then will need to do some planning about access to supplies and medical care when you're there, and to make sure you're emotionally ready to handle things that might come up so far from home.

I would say get yourself sorted first before making plans. Make sure you are fully well as you would not want to do anything until you feel up to it and until you are back at school full time without any issues. Walk before you run, first step is getting well enough to return to school, then see how things go.
