My name is Brittany and I'm 22 years old. For my whole life I've dealt with constipation issues, but not until about 3 years ago did it get to the point where I cannot go to the bathroom on my own at all. I've tried almost everything, but the only way I can go is if I drink up to 17 capfulls of miralax. Ive been tested in Boston and was told I have slow transit throughout my entire large intestine. I was supposed to have the whole thing removed last year and connect the small intestine to rectum to avoid bags, but I started expereincing horrible excruciating pain and the surgeon called it off. I am used to being 5 ft tall and 105 lbs and this illness has started to make my belly get very big at times and I feel swollen all over my body. My college has me on medical leave until I am healthy again and I have just started to become so hopeless and frustrated and angry that I live my life constipated and in screaming pain about 3-4 days a week. I was even accused by a doctor at Dartmouth that it was all in my head. I'm sick off all the medicine I have to take that doesn't even work. I really would like to know if anyone else feels the same way, knows if surgery could be an option and knows of anything I can do to keep my chin up. Thank you.
