Hey all,
so, same like a few of us here, I went in on Monday (Jan 23) for my reversal.
I can't complain about
anything so far. Monday was weird because the hospital I went to, I had to ~walk~ to the OR. I had to get onto the operation table on my own. It was a weird feeling because the nurse strapped me in by the thighs and I thought I was going to be executed. After that part, I don't recall much, I was put out almost instantly.
Anyways, Monday night I was in recovery, no major meds other than regular Tylenol. No stomach pains from the incision, granted it was a bit sore, but nothing unmanageable.
Tuesday: no gas yet, but tummy was rumbling. No liquids other than ice chips. stopped taking tylenol because I felt like it wasn't doing much. I had this drainage pouch for excess blood (which was slowing down as the days went on)
Wednesday: mid day, I passed gas and it wouldn't stop. Sometimes, I felt like I was passing stool w/ my gas. (really awkward feeling as I haven't used this part of my body since June 2011). Upgraded to clear fluids. Bladder kind of hurts, however once the gas got by, it was much better.
Thursday: upgraded to full fluids and running to the toilet every 10-15 mins. Not a lot came out, but it was darn uncomfortable.
Friday: upgraded to "slop" (which is cream soup and ice cream)...realized after I ate, I could expect that within 30mins, I'll be hitting the bathroom for 30-45mins at 15min intervals.
I was deemed ok to be release and now I'm at home recovering.
I'm pretty much on a baby food diet for the next two weeks. Aside from the weight lost (which is a bonus), what did you guys/gals eat in the following weeks after surgery?
I'm not too keen on broth soups and Boost/Ensure all day long, although Jello is a plus.
To all my fellow recoverers...I know some of you are having problems and I wish nothing but a speedy recovery. Also, take people advice and bring your own TP. I used 2 rolls in one day! Also, ask about
cream...it'll get REALLY sensitive back there.
