hips out of line

I saw a couple people say stuff about one side being weaker or their hips being out of lne.
When I lay flat, my right hip sticks up higher than my left hip, I don't know if its always been like that, I only notice it when I change my bag. It does it when I'm laying on the bed or something too, I started checking after I discovered it.
What's that about?

hhmm that's very interesting!!... well as you know this is also becoming a problem for me too. I suspect due to the stoma position in the rectus abdominis and how this then affects posture, core stability and alignment. It's subsequently affecting my ability to run and causing hip and knee pain.. *sigh*. Blueheron commented on my post that she had something similar and had lots of physical therapy to realign and strengthen various muscles.

I've done some measurements in the gym and my right side is approx 40% weaker than my left... especially through my glutes and obliques. In fact my right quadriceps are actually noticeably smaller than the left.

I seem to sit wonky and the right side of my ribcage is lifted.

I'm seeing a physio next week and will let you know what they say and suggest.

There's been some research done in Ireland via the Ileostomy Association in the UK about back pain in people with an ostomy, but I wonder if anyone has ever looked at hip alignment and subsequent hip/knee pain or injury?

After the surgery my husband due to the incisions where the drains were in the butt area found he sat differently and his walk was definitely off when healing. This went on for about 2 months. Consequently he threw his back out of whack. He went to a chiropractor, accupuncturist, message therapist gal........when I made the appt I stressed I didn't want any invasive spinal manipulation starting out....go conservatively to start. Well it only took that one appt and he walked out of that office like a new man! I was in shock and so was he. He had 2 more appts after that. She said his hips were out of line and one leg was a bit shorter than the other. She used some kind of vibrating impulse machine on him.

Just before Christmas his knee "out of the blue" started giving him problems with pain and hurts to walk. We saw the orthopedic Dr. on Monday....Xrays show no injury or tear...just old age and deterioration (arthritis). Gave him a cortisone shot which really helped a lot. We'll see how long that works. He goes back the end of Feb. Can always have an MRI done and possible arthroscopic surgery if it becomes too debilitating and the shots (can't get them too often) don't help enough.

Getting old "ain't for sissies" but it sure beats the alternative. Who knows what the heck that prednisone does to the body overall. At least his osteopenia has improved immensely having been off prednisone for 4 years. Fosamax (which he has stopped taking awhile back) and calcium supplements seemed to reverse that.

     Were you ever diagnosed with Scoliosis?  My youngest daughter was diagnosed with it when she was about 11 yrs old.  They did a screening in school.  I never noticed it.  We took her to a pediatric orthopedic doctor and, sure enough, she had it!  It was only a ten degree curve when first diagnosed, so the doctor kept an eye on it.  When the curve got worse within six months we had to put her in a back brace.  She wore that brace 12 hrs a day for a year.  The curve never got any better but it didn't get any worse.  She still suffers with backache but the surgeon said she doesn't need surgery.  She is now 34 yrs old.

     When I fractured my spine in 04, they said I also have scoliosis.  This was 8 yrs prior to my ileostomy. 

     Maybe you had scoliosis all along but only now it has become noticeable.
