 I feel so much better that other people have had low blood pressure when they were in the hospital. my bp has never been high but the way the nurses acted it was like it was the worse thing ever. it's not like i can get up and walk around alot because i'm hooked up to all these machines. I have one question has anyone ever had a port put in? they want to put one in because my vains keep blowing and i have so much scar tissue that it takes 8 times to hit a vein.                   Thanks to all,  Rose

 

Low blood pressure is not unusual with IBD. As I said in another thread, I had the same thing where new people would freak out, put me on a heart monitor, etc, and then my gi would come by and take it off because it's "normal" for me (i.e. normal when I'm bad enough to be hospitalized..... not a heart issue, just another symptom of the main problem).

I was going to get a picc line when I was on antibiotics that were blowing out all of my veins ....but I was able to stop before I needed one. I think there is a slight risk of infection -- you can talk to them about it.... but it's probably worth it to avoid all the poking.
