Reversal ileostomy booked!

Hi everyone,

I have had Crohns for 7 years now and have had subtotal coletomy in Jan 2007 then a metre of small bowel removed due to disease recurrence in Sep 2007 then four years of trying every drug on the planet to treat my Crohns (none of which worked) and then finally I have a life-treating bowel perforation – in two places - in Oct 2011 which has left me with another 13cm of small bowel removed and a hideous ileostomy. I was an hour away from dying (mostly because of my owstateside to stay away from hospital) so I count my blessings that I am here at all. I have major problems with the ileostomy which is eroding the skin around my stoma at a great rate. I am one of the fortunate ones who has a surgeon who is going to give me a go by reversing my ileostomy as I have found life with it very difficult. None of the appliance have fit my stoma which has shrunk and it leaks all the time so I have been basically house bound and stuck sleeping on the couch on towels because I am sick of ruining my sheets and having to change them all the time. I am also on TPN feeding overnight through a greshon line due to malnutrition because I now am classed as having short gut syndrome so that will continue even after reversal but that's ok with me if it means joining everything back up.
Am counting down to 7th of March when I get reversal!! Very excited.

Hope all goes well and soon you'll be able to go out in the world more and put the ostomy problems behind you. So sorry it's been so rough. Keep us posted.
