Just a hospital takdown tip when they start letting you eat: Just because they are serving you something in the hospital doesn't mean you should eat it. They brought me lasagna on day 3 after takedown. I thought it was a strange choice for someone whose instestines were just hooked back up but I was hungry so I ate it. Bad idea! It made me so bloated and the gas pain were horrible. It was just too heavy of a food for me to eat that soon. Stick to bland, soft foods at first. Congrats on your final surgery!

I hope they don't do that to me, lol. Last surgery both my nurses and my surgeon were very strict with my diet while in the hospital. I remember my fiancee buying gummy bears right after I was allowed to have simple stuff. I was afraid to eat just one and I was also afraid of the pain/urgency that happened to us during flare ups. My surprise when I first ate something and no pain or running to the restroom.

Yep easy on food. They always seem to advance diets too fast. Get you out sooner that way. Think that is the idea. "Tolerated house diet, all set to get out of here." ready or not. So go easy. Rosemary

Now about
food. I have had no pain or gas or doscomforz and Blue that crazy puppy just went back to where he belongs no complaints.
They just gave breakfasr. I gpt broth, milk soup and a yoghurt. Drank the broth and wsoting for it to settle before eating the yoghurt . Milksoup will make any semi civilized person gag I swear, the germans have one or two things they call food. Main thing though is avoiding gas pains. This hospital is very conservative about
what you get to eat when so that part is ok found out i got taken dhown by a young surgeon with mine standing by because he is too high ranking to do the little stuff.

B'D The lack of control I would guess would be normal as you have just been rehooked a couple days ago. I think you are making phenominal process. I DO see your concern though as with a bag, you have some time to decide when to empty. Hooked up and no control, you need a toilet immediately. Give it some time. If worse comes to worse can you work from home for awhile?
My PCP said she is going to order the CT Scan for me, thankfully. Hoping all is
open. BUT I know these scans can show all
open then you can still get a food blockage, but it would be some peace of mind. So nice here today, but I am so wiped out. I should get out and walk though.
Good luck. . I will check back later. Rosemary

Rosemary it sounds you are worried about
what will happen if scan shows all
open, you go to St. P and start having real problems where you cant speak the language. If scan shows all k
open how do you explain the blockages?
Am also taking a walk but only down the hall.

I have no clue.. BUT a friend of mine has the same issue. All appears
open yet if she eats certain things she actually throws up. I just feel bloated and gross, but eventually all moves along. The idea is you can have adhesions that I guess just kink bowel a bit when there is food in you????
BUT she did say she has this soft diet that she follows. I have asked her to send me the list of what she can successfully eat and I will do the same.
Rosemary PS good for you for walking.
