Hi,

so if they find a stricture and need to dilate, do they do that right there on the spot with a finger or is it a procedure with a ballon?

Well it depends on how bad it is. If its something they can do right then and there, your doc will dilate it with his/her finger. If it too closed up and/or it's hurting you too much then they may do it with you under sedation. Mine were all done right in office. 10 seconds of OUCH and it's done.

OUch is right!
As of yesterday only had 10 bm's total including the middle of the night. The other problems still exist though.

Tomorrow I go to the clinic to have the stitches removed and can discuss it then. That digital exam is very painful. Yuck!
The itching got out of hand again today. The baby creme did nothing, the drugstore only had sonething with a serious numbing effect, and so I smeared on a tiny bit of a cortisone cream I have. It worked but I want something without cortisone. Ordered Calmoseptine from the STates but it won't be here for 2-3 weeks. At least until I get a better idea about this itche from the surgeon, the cort creme will allow me to think about other things... :-)

Yeah, the frequency is going down it seems, although I know this could take weeks. Discovery number one: do not eat Passover matzahs at night because they will be a plague in the morning. The big problem though, is getting things to where I can trust my body, and not having these leakages any more. It is not just liquid, but real consistency, though not very much. Do you think it could till be caused by a stricture? Because I could imagine liquid leakage with a stricture but not real stuff.

Hey B'Dereh, I know it is an odd question, but how much output did you have from your jpouch before takedown?

Maybe I'm overthinking it but I keep thinking there is a possibility that I have a stricture. Seems like some days I will feel like I need to go to the restroom but nothing comes out (even though my jpouch isn't hooked up yet).

I remember having that feeling too before takdown and I think the stricture was there at that point but I didn't know about it until after I was all hooked up and had trouble emptying. Never hurts to inquire about it with your doctor because if you do have a stricture he/ she can dilate it while you are under anesthesia during your takedown.

I did have a digital exam a few weeks ago. He didn't mention anything about a stricture and didn't seem that worried about it even though he did say it was tight (lol). He seemed to be more concerned about the fact I waited so long before the takedown so I might have a longer adjustment/recovery time than most of his patients.

Between my colectomy and jpouch op, there was a lot of output (mucous). Then after jpouch surgery thee was initally a lot of output but it decreased until the last 2 months or so I did not have output every day, and often very little, may a half teaspoon, other times a bit more.

I had a ddigital about 4-6 weeks before takedown and he didn't say anything about tightness.
