fistula repair...didn't work!

Had a fistula repair on 14th...doc was not happy with it 3 weeks later, have to wait till May 15th to see if it will heal, if not, the second repair will be abdominally...which has me scared to death...I am feeling so much better and dread another surgery before take down...:( I do have a question...my hair is falling out like crazy? Could this be from ilestomy? I am taking a prenatal vitamin and hair and nail vitamin daily...any suggestions?

My 20 y.o. daughter had her colon removed and j-pouch formation surgery 12.16.2011. In hospital 19 days including ICU and had abscess which we now know was caused by anastamosis of lower part of pouch not healing (fistula or pouch "communicating" with abd cavity) anyway, her hair started falling out about 3 weeks ago and hasn't stopped. Her GI warned her prior to discharge that it would happen and boy was he right. She just started using hair extensions again that we got when the remicade or imuran made her hair break off last year prior to surgery. Would extensions work for you?It's always somthing!

my hair started to fall out after my first op, doc told me it was because of the shock over the surgery, my mum told me about kelp i took it every day for a year and my hair grew back thicker than ever, when i had my second op i didnt lose any hair. try the kelp. best of luck.

got from health food shop cant remember the name sorry, as that was 5yrs ago, just go to your nearest health food shop ask for sea kelp,any way prob would be different where you live im living in Ireland. Hope that this helps.

thanks I will try and find some...this fistula is casusing me all kinds of grief...need the darn thing to heal...
