Looking at your age, of course this is a relevant topic for you. Not only now in your 20's, but possibly later in your 30's or 40's. Chances of infertility increase with each surgery because of scar tissue. In cases like yours, because of a having jpouch construction, some doctors might want you to have children before the reversal. Don't want to damage all the work that has been done. Then again, some women do have children after. And, in my opinion, this should be more discussed with your surgeon as opposed to nurses. Surgeon's have their own cases, plus literature, to back up their statements.
My suggestion is go to the j-pouch.org website. I've heard there are countless posts regarding jpouch pregnancies. Also, possibly joining a support group in your area, you can feel comfortable meeting people in a similar situation. It will provide you confidence and insight.
On the other hand, are your personal issues with your boyfriend. If he isn't on board, you can't harp on him. I don't want you to hastily rush into either decision, medically and personally. You've had your ileostomy for a year and will wait until next year for the reversal. I'm sure this is very confusing, it would be for me too, if I had this to deal with at your age. And confusion even lurks at my age in different ways!
Wishing you much Clarity........
