Bleeding from rectum

I had surgery on Feb 29 to remove my colon do to UC. It was the best thing ive done in a long time. I am able to do things again and eat almost what ever I want. But the trouble I am having now is that my rectum is acting up. By that I mean am in pain and passing blood with clots. I can not have surgery to remove  my rectum until September. My question is there any way I could ease the pain ?

You may want to try rectal meds until you can have surgery, but I don't think you should be bleeding that much. I recommend a call to your surgeon asap.

He can also prescribe the rectal meds if you need them.

Sorry I left that out taking meds preds,suposatories and pain meds. Talked to my Gastro and Surgeon as of now I have to wait until September. Just tring to ease the pain now.

Do you have hemorrhoids? My step-father used to make a salve out of vasoline and alum and that seemed to help.

Jeff,
So, you have an ileostomy and are having bleeding and pain from the rectum? My suggestion is to try to find a surgeon who can remove it before September. The surgery is not as bad as you might think, and it will give you major relief.

I bled quite a bit from my remaining rectum after my first surgery. Canasa suppositories helped reduce the cramped feeling somewhat, but really you'll just have to tough it out until your next surgery :( I'm sorry!

try sitz baths, several times a day.
