The absolute best thing I found for removing the Eakin residue was the Niltac Adhesive Remover I posted about a while back. It is silicone based and works wonderfully for removing the Eakin residue.
HOWEVER, since I have been using Niltac, I am getting small sporatic places that look like contact dermatitis under my Sure Seal. Doesn't seem to be under the tape on my wafer, but still.
Sooooo, I am going to forego the Niltac and see what happens for the next few changes. I hate that because it really did work wonders with removing the Eakin.
Before Niltac, I mostly used my fingernail. I used Allcare Adhesive Removal wipes to get off the lint left from my clothing, but it didn't do much for the Eakin residue. Of course, Allcare leaves the greasy stuff, so you have to wash it off with Dial or Ivory, etc.
I did find a tip online to use a spoon to help remove the Eakin. I used a baby spoon a few times and it worked pretty well before I started the Niltac.
Maybe the spoon with olive oil . . .
Peanut butter works to get gum out of kids hair . . .
Maybe an ice cube would harden it and it would flake off . . .
I have read that it is not important to get it all off. I think even the directions say that, maybe? I always do try to get it off though.
