does heat affect bags sticking?

This past week the temps where I live have been in the 90's and of course my bags decide to go on the fritz. I was getting 3-4 days out of a bag and now I'm lucky to get 12 hours to a day out of one and then it leaks. The company that I get my supplies from decided to change the protective barrier wipes and eakin ring brands on me... the new wipes make my skin like an ice rink and the eakin rings won't stick. I have one wipe left of my old kind. I ordered from another company today and of course it will take 3-5 business days to get here. The stoma nurse is out until Monday. I really just want to scream. Is it a combination of all of these things? The heat?

I'm also getting a red stool. I don't know if its from my stoma or my mucous fistula beside it from my colon my surgeon made... has anyone had that before?

I'm at my wits end with this stuff. My skin is irritated but looking better with the more frequent changes... I can feel the bag "pop" off and it's painful. Then the leak starts. I don't want to leave the house. I don't want to do anything. I'm afraid to bend over because it may loosen the bag. Anytime I do anything semi-active and normal for me I get a darn leak. This is no way to live.

It's all 1000x times worse because I should have had my reversal surgery last week and should have just be getting home from the hospital.... and not worrying about these bags anymore.... mad I go back tuesday for another consultation with my surgeon for the reversal. I'm gonna tell him cut the affected part out and put me back together. This is getting old. I want to be normal again. No bag. I can do what I want without worrying about a leak or a bag change.

You sound like me before the reversal. I could not stand the bags constantly popping off. Can you get away with not using wipes until the new ones arrive? At the end, I was using Sureseals just to keep the bag on. It is great not to have a bag but I still have a ways to to feel normal. Continence is contingent on how quickly I can run to the bathroom. Good thing I can move fast!

It's awful having frequent leaks. Sounds to me from what you said that the wipe or the eakin substitute is the problem. Do you have to use the wipe? They make the pouches not stick as well.

How are you doing now?

I find that my skin gets a little more irritated w/the heat, more under the sure seal than the pouch itself. I change a bit more often, but not anything like every 12 hours. If anything, the heat should make it stick better, as people here are always using heating pads and the like on their wafers.

I go to an appt with my surgery to discuss the reversal again tomorrow. I really hope it goes well.

I found a different company that carries the supplies That worked before and all seems well since i went back to my old wipes and eakin rings. Cohesive slims i think by convatec and the allkare protective wipes that also make your skin sticky are the ticket for me it seems... Fingers crossed for that and the appt tomorrow.
