What type of soap do u use?

Hey guys! I've been using an antibacterial soap to clean around my stoma in the shower, but I'd rather use one that is not "antibacterial" if possible. I know you don't want a soap with oils, etc, just wondered if you guys use something that works well and doesn't lessen wear-time... thanks for any suggestions!

Hubby uses Ivory and always rinses well

I was told Ivory or dial (the original soaps. not the new ones competing with all the others with lotions and stuff in them)

Since as far back as I can remember he always preferred and always used Ivory and it seems to be still ok to use now that he has the ileostomy. Other soaps we tried over the years would bother him in one way or another and he would always go back to the Ivory.

Dr Bonner Castile Liquid Soap cleans well, rinses completely, is non- drying to the skin, and reasonably priced because it lasts forever (you only need a drop to clean stoma and area)
I've used it for over 25 years to clean skin & stoma. While I've tried others I always come back to this because of previously stated reasons.
Give it a try. It comes in scents, none of which appear to affect the clean rinse/non-drying properties.
I like peppermint b/c it is good for the skin & a deodorizer

I use original style Dial...for no reason other than it was one of three recommended (I think original Ivory was another) and I found Dial first.

I'm intrigued by the Dr. Bonner Castile peppermint though!

I use the regular Dial soap that is the gold bar. I think it does have antibacterial properties though.

plain old fashion dial soap. nothing with lotions or potions in it!

I do use the castile peppermint soap on all my doggies, so I guess I could try it around my stoma.

I use a liquid bath soap in the shower, rinse well and never have a problem with wear time. Always get 5-6 days of wear and I use a slightly convex bag with an adapt barrier ring, both from Hollister. Of course I always make sure the area around the stoma is completely dry before attaching the bag. Been doing it this way for 4 months with no problem with leakage or adhesion.
