I am just wondering how you all would handle this:
I ended up at e.r 2x this week for different things. A couple of weeks ago I got a massive sinus infection, then my neck went really stiff. Finally on Tuesday while I was at work my left arm started to go numb and heavy. I drove to the e.r., found out the doc on duty was one I have NO faith or trust in, so I called my cousin to see if she could drive me to a hospital in a neighboring town. She said yes, so I drove to her house ( less than a mile down the road), and went in. She had to help me to a chair, and about
5 minutes later my arm and neck and face were tingling and prickly..she called 911. I was hyperventalating, and they of course did a heart work up.. no big deal.
BUT, they of course wanted to do a c.t. scan ( my 18th in 9 months) to rule out stroke and stuff...ok, no problem. They finally just said it was stress and sent me home.
Last night I had a bowel movement, and could have sworn someone stuck a knife in my gut and dragged it across my side. The first time it happened, the pain subsided in about
10 minutes. ( after I fell off the toilet because it hurt sooo bad)..Then at 1 this morning I had another bowel movement and had the same pain, but it didn't go away, it got worse. So back off the the hospital I went..
This is what happened:
in between gasps of breath and my crying hysterically from pain, I told the doc a brief history with my gut and how many c.t. scans I have had..he goes, "well, you were just here this
week. And with that many scans you WILL get leukemia, I guarantee it, and now I get to do another one." And he walked out. I went crazy..crying, and almost started hyperventalating again. The doctor walks back in, and asks "What is your problem? Why are you crying?" So I said, because I am in tremendous pain, and scared. HE goes "well, your certainly here enough, I'm not giving you anything for pain, you'll just have to deal with it"....
After c.t. scan the nurse came in, and gave me donnatel. I asked why, he said " that is what he prescribed for pain"!!!! I have been on that on and off since surgery, and NEVER has it helped with pain, just spasms..
So my daughter ( who is an R.N.) asks for REAL pain meds..10 minutes later the `nurse comes in, gives my a minimal dose of toradol, and hands me my discharge papers.
I am soo frustrated, I just feel like I will be dead when someone finally looks inside and realizes I was NOT crazy, there were actually problems..
How would you guys deal with this?????
all I have been able to do today is lay on the couch and cry and put some pressure on the sore area. And when my daughters kitten walked across my gut it sent me into hysterics again because of the pain...
