colectomy reverse operation

Hi and welcome. Sorry I'm confused. Do you currently have a stoma? is that what you'd like to consider having reversed?

If so, you'd be living with part of your colon with your small bowel connected. In that case many people have very good function and can eat and live normally for the rest of their lives. Others have issues, but it depends on the reason you had the surgery and what other issues you might have.

Can you provide a bit more background? why you had the surgery, if you have a stoma currently etc

Are you talking about having a j-pouch procedure? If so was part of that process done when the colon was removed?

If not then there will be 2 surgeries required as I understand it. One to create the pouch and then 3-4 month later eliminating the stoma and connecting everything to the pouch.

OR....if the first part of the j pouch was done when the colon was removed then you would just need the one final surgery.

Several people here have j-pouches. There is also an entire web site out there for j-pouch too.

There are a few other processess less common....BCIR or koch pouch I think it is called.
