OMG Tracy, I hope you will be OK. If the stoma bleeding stopped it should be OK. BUT do watch and see if any poo comes THRough the crack as that is what happened to me after the residents check at the other NY hospital. Not Mt.S. If no poo out through the cut in the stoma then it is just surface and will heal. Mine healed an I had two cuts all the way through. You will see white tissue and that is the healing. My stoma nurse said stoma's heal quickly because they are so full of blood supply. My two cracks that went all the way through healed in 2 days. If you see poo coming through tell your doc. If this happens just take your temp every day to be sure no issues are starting up.
I feel so bad for you and hope you are OK. YOU HAD THE PERFECT STOMA TOO, hope it is OK.
I am still battling the stoma issue of the (as of now), not so good result on the needed redo. I went for consult with head CR surgeon at MT. S yesterday who put some silver nitrate on that tail part of my stoma that we thought looked like stoma and was sewn down like stoma when it was new. He says granulation. So I could be having part of my stoma burn off. But this doc is VERY with it and he would not make an error like that. Also, another idea, He may have noticed that one of my cracks did not heal totally and the nitrate may have been to help that heal. He did look at my stoma very well. He was gentle and put a long qtip into my stoma without incident so we know it is open a qtips worth anyway. Who knows. BUT we shall see in the a.m. I liked him he was very professional and very nice. Everyone at Mt. S. seems very nice and not like tripping over their egos or anything like in some places.
Hope you are OK. I worry about accidents and natural disasters now that I have all this underlying stuff going on. Rosemary
