This may be an incredibly stupid question..but I have recently began to leak (out of my bottom, I was an immediate reconnect)..My new gastro changed one of my medicines, and is hoping to thicken my stool so I can hold it until I get to the bathroom BUT, I am having a leaking problem now and it has stained some of my clothes.
So my stupid question is has anyone else had this issue? and if so WHAT do you use to wash your clothes?? I have a couple pairs of jeans that I can't get cleaned. I have tried spraying them with oxi-clean, spray and wash, and some other pretreatments, but to no avail...I have not dried them in a dryer, but just keep re-spraying them and washing them over and over.
Any suggestions???

I've used a product called Eaze Out on other types of stains with some success. In Canada you can buy it at Fabricland and Canadian Tire. You may be able to order it online:

You might want to try kegels to strengthen your sphincter. Sorry I can't help with the laundry question.

I use Shout and cold water. Protein stains can be the worst. Hot water sets the stains so be careful. One time I was so frustrated I used nail polish remover on a pair of jeans. The stains came right out! I was lucky it didn't damage the jeans. When I am having an iffy day I use a panty liner to avoid any extra laundry.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems. I had the same surgery a week ago and have had no problems. Try letting the shout pretreat sit on the stain for 30 minutes before putting in the wash. You can also put the detergent on the stain, let it set for 30 minutes then wash. I hope this help and you get things working better for you.

Whatever happens, there are ways of protecting clothes. I wear night-time, long-length pantyliners all the time and a maxi one during my periods. I also fold three toilet paper leaves and put that between my cheeks. It is not uncomfortable, helps relieve itchiness when it comes up, and absorbs any liquid or moisture that seeps out.

Even though I haven't had babies in our family for years, I've always kept Dreft Baby Laundry Detergent on hand for stubborn stains. Not only is this product formulated for food stains but also the stains you are referring to. I prefer the powder. It's very pricey though. Had a pleasant scent as well. I am currently out of it and need to buy a new supply. Sometimes if you go to a laundry mat you may be able to buy a small box of it in a vending machine. If you don't want to buy such a large supply.

One more suggestion, for future drips and to prevent stains, Stayfree Ultra Thin Maxi Overnight pads offer protection in the very back of your underwear. Recently, Always came out with their own XL or Overnight thin pads as well. Both are a real comfort if you want extra protection but don't need to wear something such as Depends.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies...unfortunately, this beings on a whole other world of issues for me! I have not worn underwear in years ( unless I had my period, and I had to have a hysterectomy! so YEAH, underwear days were over, I thought!) Since I had 2 c-sections and got that fold-over flap of skin in my stomach, (that has gotten bigger since I lost so much weight from this surgery), I didn't wear underwear because it always caused yeast infections in that flap of skin. It didn't matter what kind of underwear, I even tried putting a small maxi pad in that fold, but I always got yeast infections. I blow dry under my belly, and put on powder, or diaper rash cream...but I would still get yeast infections. So I just stopped wearing underwear, and the infections stopped.
SO, now I guess I need to go get some so I can protect my pants from random leaks.....UUUGGHHHHH>..... so frustrated!!!
My new doctor even changed some of my meds to thicken my stool, but it made me constipated and caused me some blockage issues....so, back to square one.
But thanks for the ideas, and yeah, I was soaking the stains for like 2 hours with stuff before I washed it...I will keep trying and I will try dreft...

I'm so sorry about your incontinence problem. The above suggestions are great! My friends with newborns have used, with great success, Dreft spray. Personally, when I had my children and even now for stubborn stains mostly by my children, use Biz. Biz is a bit pricey. When I had my children, it only came in powder form. Now it's also in a liquid spray. When I was pregnant with my first child, a friend had given me lots of newborn clothes. Unfortunately, they all had the stubborn milk stains, her son was already 3, so these stains were very set in. Also, one item had a permanent marker line (strange?). So I made a paste from the powder, and let it sit for a couple of days. EVERYTHING came out! I was sold and again, have been using it ever since.

I find sunlight laundry bar good to scrub into stain, let sit and then wash with load. It is frustrating!

Also forgot to mention that while living with my father, he's deceased now, I used Biz with his soiled clothes.
