Well, my doctor just called (on a sunday afternoon, have I mentioned that I love this man??) And after my 23rd c.t. scan this year due to pain..they have now found a cyst bigger than a fist on my ovaries that is so covered in adhesions that it is tangling up what is left of my intestine. sad
SOOO, I am a bit worried about this...and that just put the ice cream on my "crap sunday", as Friday I got a call from my 10 year old daughter's urologist to say he wants an appointment with her TOMORROW as she had 1 kidney stone in December that did damage, 1 in July, and now has 3 more that weren't there when he went in in July....UUUGGGHHHHH
Oh well, thank you for letting me vent...I am going to stick my head in the toilet now, that seems to be where the rest of life is heading, at least I should go head first! hahahahaha, oh well... as with everything, this too shall pass, and we shall endure. :-)

Oh my goodness, no wonder you were in pain! I'm sorry it took them so long to find it. And your poor daughter too. I've never had a kidney stone, but I've heard they are not fun.

Maybe you should forget the proverbial Ice Cream and go get some real Ice Cream?

Actually, we did! hahahaha, for desert tonight I baked apples for 1/2 hour, then went and got some french vanilla ice cream to go under it :) I am now one happier fat kid..lol (ok, in reality i lost another 12 pounds..) but it was sooo good. Made me feel better for a moment.

That sounds like an awesome dessert. Now I'm contemplating going to get some frozen custard tomorrow and doing the same!

Ugh! that's rubbish news. All this talk of desserts making me jealous though... ;-)

Thanks ladies...Hey, you want a GREAT dessert? cut up apples like you are making a pie, put in your favortie stuff (cinnamon, brown sugar, all that stuff), then top it with a biscuit type dough. (like a bisquick, you drop it by spoonfuls over the apples), bake until top is done..just before you take it out of the oven, warm up some milk with cinnamon in it..take out apples form oven, scoop on bowl so biscuit is on bottom, pour on milk, add scoop of ice cream... TO DIE FOR.. seriously :) great comfort food.

Ovarian cysts are so incredibly painful! I am very sorry you had to experience this.
Our bodies are so individual that I don't know if this is even relevant. After my first surgery, I had problems with kidney stones every few months. I switched to a low protein diet and stopped having any more kidney stones. I cannot imagine going through that much pain at only ten years of age. Your poor baby!

Oh Bugzy, when it rains, it pours. You are being so fantastic, baking the apples and getting the vanilla icecream too. That's a spirit I admire! Then giving us recipes for disaster days! (Just tell me how your jpouch handles apple peel? I haven't tried it yet, am peeling everything but if it's alright let me know).
I'm a clarity freak, so I call it progress when someone gets an explanation for pain and symtoms. What is going to be done about that cyst? Let us know.
I hope your daughter has some of her mothers ooompf and moxy, it will help her get through, though I imagine you're being a fantastic mom to her while she has to go through all this crap that no 10 year old should have to endure. Don't know what else I can say except we're here.

Sorry of all your bad news. Loved the part about head first into the toilet bowl. LOL we do keep our sense of humor somehow. Find out what your daughter's kidney stone is made of then they can get her on the right diet.

I am drinking coconut water to turn thick effluent thin to get it out of my new and open kinkless perfect new stoma so I can get to sleep. Believe it or not my new stoma was outputting this thick crap successfullu but I want it "otta me" before I can get to sleep. Coconut water at midnight. Jeeze! Would rather be having wine!

Ladies,
well, 1~ Shannan's stones are calcium, so they already made her limit dairy intake to 1 serving a day..and he said her 2nd urine was much better. But, she apparently doesn't make citrate to stop stones from forming. So today she starts medicine to see how that does. So relieved it was not a stone..he said it was a really crappy ultrasound, and was glad his showed nothing..but we are repeating in 2 months..
2~I don't have a pouch, I was an immediate reconnect.. So I guess for that I am grateful..but PEEL the apples! lol
3~ My doc blocked out 4 hours for my surgery..he said the cyst had grown since my c.t. a week ago, but surgery isn't until November because that is the first date an o.r. , his schedule, and the continence surgeon are open for that length of time. He wanted to book the other surgeon because this thing is wrapped all around and thru what is left of my intestine. And he is worried about causing damage to the anastomosis site. I am really nervous about this..I guess mainly because my original surgeon is in army reserves and out of country for another year, so this other guy is a stand in...not sure how I feel about that..The gyno I have total faith in because he is the one that collaborated with my surgeon to begin with to do the hysterectomy when the colon was removed in January...And my surgeon hand picked him..So total faith there.. just really nervous! At first, I was like 10 cm, no big deal, meatball size right? (by the way, genius at math, SUCK at metric conversion..hahahaha) Then I pulled out a ruler, HOLY crap! sorry, but wow, didn't know cm where that big...and it's growing? yikes...just can't wait to be out of pain..
Thank you ALL for love and support, family is helpful, but unless they have gone thru what most of us have they just DON"T "get" it.. you guys are wonderful..

It WAS amazing. I brought it to a party celebrating a director's first year at the institute, and there were no left-overs. I only allowed myself one fork-full because I knew there was enough butter in the crumble part to give me hours of the runs.

How are you feeling and when is your surgery?
