Surgeons!

     Oh GEEEZ...I feel so bad that you are still having problems, especially since you had the same surgeon as I.  However, I do understand where you are coming from!  My stitches popped about two weeks post op, only a few at the very bottom of my incision.  This was my fault for wearing a heavy fanny pack down Atlantic City...not that it was full of money, just full of junk.  Ok...I went to the nurse at the Borgata, my luck it was a male nurse....anyway, all he did was look at it and put a bandaid on it .  Well, long story short, the darn thing kept seeping and seeping.  I had to be hospitalized a few weeks later for dehydration and went to a local hospital here in south Jersey.  For three days I had doctors trudging into my hospital room...most of them looking at the seepage and doing NOTHING!!!!  They also gave me huge potassium pills which did not dissolve and I found them in my ostomy bag!  I told them I had to have the potassium given via IV...so what did they do?  A few  hours later marched in with 4 potassium pills....ya gotta wonder.

     At my post op visit with Dr. Fry.  I showed him the seeping popped stitches (must have been only 2 or 3) and he put something on it...looked like some sort of salve and that was that!!!  No more seeping problem.  Now why couldn't any of those doctors at Lourdes Hospital do that???? 

     I did tell you that I also had an abscess inside the anus and Dr. Fry drained it in his office and placed me on Cipro and another antibiotic.  I had such a horrible reaction, three days later could not get out of bed.  I phoned his office and he told me to stop the Cipro immediately and then placed me on Bactrim.  Everything was ok after that.  I suggest you just deal with Dr. Fry and his associates.  I know it is a pain in the tush to go back to Philly since you live so far from there, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.  To be honest, I wouldn't trust any local surgeon.

     I am happy to hear Dr. Fry called you personally.  Usually Mike makes all the phone calls.  He relates the messages to Dr. Fry and then calls back.   I do believe Dr. Fry called me when I had the bad reaction to Cipro.  It was on a Saturday and he was in the hospital doing rounds.  He then told me to stop the Cipro immediately.

     Prednisone gave me full blown osteoporosis and I suffer with three back fractures...one being a compressed fracture of the lumbar spine from a fall, the other two..I have no idea what happened .  I was seeing a chiropractor for IBD (grabbing at straws to avoid surgery) and even though I told that nimwad I had osteoporosis he cracked my back!!!  OY...the pain!  I think he is the one who caused the two fractures in my thoracic spine.

     Oh well, always somethin.
