Are you guys for real? You have surgery so you can eat normally, not going back on restricted diets.
If he wants to eat sausages, let him eat sausages.
He has a high output ileo because he has a high out ileo, Some people can eat all this random stuff no problem. There's a picture of Bootstrap eating Mcdonald's like 2 days after surgery.
Btw, I went and re-read the whole thing again. Look if he's outputing crazy like this, I'd be really surprised if changing foods will make a difference I mean, if you see the bag filling up after 15 minutes minutes of emptying, that's crazy, imo. There might be other problems...

Hehe yea, thanks I agree with you guys too. Unfortunately I just can't win... I came home from work this evening and found my 15 year old cat lying paralyzed on the floor. I think he had a stroke or something. He was still breathing but it was too late...the vet had to put him to sleep. So, with all this going on now my dear cat of 15 years is gone. When it rains it pours....

Amythyst, so sorry about
your cat. It really is "pouring" for you now, hope things start improving soon.
I actually had a high output ileo last night -- not sure what was up, either a virus or food that didn't agree w/me, but I thought of you both and this post. I started drinking vitalyte instead of water and have had low residue food today, and I seem to be OK, as output is getting thick again. Relieved that it doesn't appear to be Crohn's in my small intestine.
Hang in.

Thanks guys. Last few days have been tough for me. But in regards to hubby's ostomy, every day it gets a little better and we empty it less.
He is cooperating a bit more now.... I bought some benefiber and for now we got some electrolyte water, I ordered the powdered supplement but it isn't here yet. He has cut a lot of sugar out of his diet and we are no longer letting him drink soda or any drinks with sugar.
We have been throwing in thickening foods as much as possible... Apples, pears, banana, peanut butter, pasta, potatoes, pretzels. Most of the time now his out put is fairly thick or at least a soupy porridge instead of pure liquid. He also chugs some salt water on occasion too.
He did complain of getting a little dizzy when standing too fast though last couple days but I'm hoping we can keep dehydration at bay until our electrolyte powder gets here on Tuesday. Think that will help a lot.
We found some yummy water he likes called O-water. It has natural flavors but no sweeteners in it at all. It also has some electrolytes but not nearly enough in it.
I see a light at the end of the tunnel :)

So glad to hear things are improving, and they will, it just takes time and trial and error.
You're a doll Amythyst and your hubby is lucky to have you!
