Surgery at Weill Cornell

What surgery are you having? I interviewed Dr. Bauer at mt. Sinai in NYC (I had j pouch surgery) as he came highly recommended and I did like him but I ended up having my surgery done in Philadelphia at Jefferson University Hopspital by Dr. Scott Goldstein who did an excellent job and I received wonderful care there at that hosptial. I was very impressed with everything. I ended up there because it was just simply closer to home. Since you are in NY I would definately interview the surgeons over at Mt. Sinai. That it a top notch place for colorectal surgery. Good luck!

I had my revision done at Mt Sinai because my original surgeon botched the job and it resulted in a few complications. Dr. Steinhagen did my surgery. I did not have the j-pouch surgery, but I know people who did from Dr. S. and were happy with the results. He is an excellent surgeon with a very good bedside manner. I can't say enough positive things about Mt Sinai hospital as well. I have been to many hospitals during the course of my disease, and Mt Sinai was BY FAR the best in terms of being clean, the nursing staff, overall care, etc. Of course, you'd rather a great surgeon over everything else, but with Mt Sinai I feel as though I got the whole package. Also, I have been complication free since my revision! Good luck!
