Out of reversal surgery

In August I had endometriosis rip a hole through my colon and they had to remove that portion. Had my reversal this morning and it we t well!!

So yeah. I got an epidural for pain(ha ) didn't get to have one for delivery why not now?? And fentyl. Woke up crying in pain so they upped my dosage. I feel surprisingly well!! Probably the pain meds lol, but my dad says I still have my sense of humor. Was a bit nauseas afterward from the anesthetic.

They want me sitting in a chair later today. That is the goal, part of my surgeons out-in-3- days

Tried napping and think I did for a couple minutes but now wide awake.. Grr.

I woke up starving and Thirsty but can't eat yet. I suppose those are both good signs


And my first question was so I have no more bag?? Lol

My dr scared me with the worst case scenario before going into surgery: that they can't put me back together due to a lot of endo and scar tissue. Best case scenario: putting me back together.. Got best case. Thank The Lord


Oh and as for what happened.. My ob was in there too and found no Endo, but that my left tube is smashed against my left ovary. Next chance of conceiving would be on my right side. They didn't want to unstick it, and cause more harm than good.

Everything sounds like you're doing great, especially the big appetite!Just take it very slowly with food.

Thanks. We had trouble conceiving #1 and I had to have surgery before to remove endometriosis. We got pregnant 3 months later. This is why they were concerned about my left tube: when/if we try for #2, I will only have one tube to work with. But that's alright... Just as long as I'm normal again :)

You can conceive with one tube!
(I am tempted to suggest doubling your efforts but don't want to appear rude when I mean it joyfully).

My reversal was last March!

BTW if you are nauseaous now from the anesthesia, then don't be afraid to stay there longer than 3 days. you need to make sure there won't be any further reactions to that. I had a very bad reaction (much worse than nausea alone) to the anesthesia and it set me back at least 2 days in the hospital.
And really take it easy with food, just liquids first and make sure that works well, then pureed food for another 2 days. Resist the appetite for real food for just a few days, even if the nurses say you can eat.

Hi, I had a similar situation. I had surgery to get my endo removed but the laser burned a hole through my colon.
Are you in a progresses stage, I've never heard of that happening?
We will also be trying to get pregnant in the next few months. My ileostomy was placed September 2012 and reversed November 2012

Sorry b, apparently got years mixed up somehow lol

Speech, not one of the drs knew how this could have happened. I delivered 10 weeks early due to this hole. He was in the nicu for a month. We took him home September 1. My ob only found a few case studies on my exact issue. The hole in my colon also caused air pockets in my abdomen, and a collapsed lung. Had the collapsed lung at home while pregnant, hubby brought me to the L&D and they did several tests trying to figure this out. Took at least a week for them to figure out what was wrong. I felt like a science experiment! lol. Anyways baby boy came while I had the chest tube in for my collapsed lung. So I was in the delivery room with a collapsed lung/chest tube!

Nothing like being home in your own bed...BUT.....if you need an extra day or two of care in the hospital it is better to be there than be released too early and end up in the ER a day or two later. My husband was NOT ready and he convinced the hospital to keep him for 2 more days and we stayed in the area for an additional 4 days after that since it was a 3 hr drive for us. With such major surgery and all kinds of complications that can occur I was very cautious.
