What kind of supplies do you use?

I recently got a loop ileostomy (Jan 18th) and am about to order my first set of supplies. Being a newbie, I am curious what bag, wafer and other products that you use. I am using a 2-piece Hollister system with a convex wafer and a drainable bag with a clip. I also use the barrier film wipes and eakin seals before applying the wafer.

Are there any state of the art bags, wafers, etc?

I prefer coloplast sensura (I use the flat ones.. but they also make convex light. For full convexity you have to go to coloplast assura). 2 piece, midi size bags. I love the security of the snapping on bag to flange. lso like the way the end of the bag is wide to open and empty and the very secure velcro closure (I've had problems with hollister's velcro closure in the past...not being so secure!). Also use a tiny bit of stoma powder right around the stoma, a dab of a barrier wipe just on the powdered area, and an adapt ring.
Sometimes me-fix tape or sure seals if I'm swimming or exercising a lot in the summer.

I use the Coloplast Sensura too and love it! I use Sure Seals as well when I am very active or swimming.

     Vote #3 for Coloplast Sensura.  I was sent home from the hospital with Hollister..ugh...two of them burst on me shocked .

I have to be the rebel and break the chain to say I absolutely LOVE my Convatec Convex Moldable.

Along with stoma powder, Cavilon spray/wipes, a whole Eakin, Sure Seals and a diligent heat & pressure application, this set-up has proven to be bomb-proof for me.   I also use All Care Adhesive Remover wipes.

Some don't advocate the use of powder and barrier spray/wipes, but I have never had any issues with them and use them at every change .

I know there are lots & lots of folks who get great results with Coloplast, but it just won't stick to me, even without powder and a barrier.

I tried a sample from hollister and couldn't rip it off fast enough. The adhesive made me crazy. I would love to try a mouldable but mine is oval shaped and temperamental!!!! So the Sensura is the best one for me.

Okay, you guys convinced me to call Coloplast and request Sensura samples.

I'm currently using the Hollister two piece, flat wafer, lock and roll pouch, barrier film wipes, generic adhesive remover... but no one should do anything based on what I do.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!! Like Liz, I will also be calling Coloplast for samples. I am using a convex barrier, I think I will try out their Assura range. EXCITING!!!
