drinking 2 liters a day is probably not enough. HOWEVER, drinking plain water oftentimes increases output. Like you, I used to drink tons of plain water.. and was still always thirsty and found out later.. medically dehydrated! Little did I know that plain water could make things worse .. until my docs put me on this current plan. My docs want me to drink 2.5liters of an true WHO electroylyte beverage every day and even more if I am exercising, hot weather, etc..
Also.. there are many other things that you can do to slow down output and reduce your dehydration. Here's just a few:
don't drink when you eat
don't chug drinks.. but rather sip all throughout the day and even at night if you wake up
avoid sugary things (I previously stated that one)
don't drink hot beverages and don't eat hot brothy things, etc..
eat salty foods..in addition to potato chips.. bananas and potatos are good for you.
If you are truly feeling dehydrated - dizzy, little urine and/or very dark urine, shortness of breath.. yes you should get IV hydration. If you get behind... dehydrated.. it is oftentimes near impossible to catch up on your own without a colon. Also.. if you ever feel that way and cannot get a hold of your doc.. just go straight to the emergency room and tell them immediately you are dehydrated, you have no colon, and you need iv hydration.
