Leakage Problems

Wow it's been a while since I've been on healing well. I hope everyones doing well! I hope I don't offend anyone by posting this in this sub-forum.

I have a question that's open to anyone [Although I prefer someone with J-pouches or alike].
I really feel restricted with what I can do, but that's mainly due to leakages. I was wondering
what I can do to help prevent them, I've changed my diet and I workout regularly but it still occurs
frequently.

The question is, does anyone know of any good ways to prevent leakages. I hear that some
people use medication and others exercise. Haven't tried any medication but I'm willing to if it'd helps make stools less 'liquidly.


Everythings great for the most part but I'm restricted with what I can do. I really want to play soccer again but at the time being I'd only play 5 minutes maybe less before I have a leakage. I've tried working around it but I guess I've lost most hope in doing anything fun.

This has affected job opportunities as well, because they require you to be up and moving with little down time, or fast pace.

Anything that may help is greatly appreciated.

  I just signed on to see if I can get some help for my Dad, who is 80, and just had surgery a little over 3 weeks ago. He has a urostomy. We (he calls me his nurse!) are having quite a time getting a nice seal. Yesterday we had 3 leaks! His skin is not liking this at all, and is also very sensative. The hospital and home health provided us with Convatech supplies, and that is all we have tried. I have ordered some free samples from Hollister, but they have not come yet. Dad is very active and independant, but isn't feeling like he can trust leaving the house now. It is very sad, and frustrating. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! So far, we only have skin prep wipes and the wafer and bag from Convatec. Lots of leaks!

jening.. it seems david's problem is completely different than your dad's. David said he has a jpouch. In regards to your dad, might I suggest you get help from an ostomy asap. Beware.. most home health nurses have no ostomy experience. Generally the ostomy nurses work out of the surgeon's office.
