Well I am celebrating turning 40 today. After my emergency surgery in August and on life support and in a coma for 5 days, I feel so blessed to be here and to celebrate another year!
My ileo has given me my life back and I owe my life to my wonderful surgical team.
It's a great day to turn 40!!!!

Happy 40th birthday, hope you've loving it.
I'll tell you a story. I was really dreading turning 40 (6 years ago). To me. it meant I was old. Anyway, on my birthday I went out to get lunch and on my return the receptionist at work asked me if there was something I wasn't telling her (other workers joined in the questioning). All of them were smiling. I was surprised and thinking something was up and said 'no, I don't think so' and they said ok, go to your desk and have a look then'.
I did and on my desk was a bouquet of flowers with a pink teddy bear attached to it with a note saying 'Congratulations on the birth of your new baby daughter'. It was from a few of my ostomate internet friends (most of whom I've never met but have been friends with for quite a few years). I'm not married and have never planned on having kids so I now understood what my workmates were on about
lol
Of course, my ostomy net friends swear they ordered a 'Happy 40th' balloon and card and laughed quite a bit when I told them that I had a lot of explaining to do because of their thoughtful gift lol
PS turning 41 wasn't a problem :)

Shaz, I love your story!!!! That is hilarious!!!!
I wasn't happy about
turning 30, I was depressed because we were trying for so long to have a second child and the stress was killing my marriage.
40 to me is like being given a gift. I am healthier now than I have been in 20 years, my husband is my best friend and the life of my life. Our daughter is 12 and happy, healthy and well adjusted despite all the nonsense we listened to about
how demented and poorly adjusted she was going to be because she was an only child.
I love 40, I am embracing it with all my might. I bought some sexy new lingerie today (even covers my pouch) and I am going to surprise my hubby tonight! He has stood by me through all of these last 20 years when everyone else had no idea how to help me cope with this darn disease.
Thank you all for your well wishes. I think we have to be excited about
each day we wake up!!!
Happy Easter everyone. I feel so blessed to have found this forum and all the great advice I have received.

Happy birthday windy!!!
We are having a huge party on Saturday and I am so excited! Instead of gifts, we are asking people to donate to our Crohn's and Colitis walk held here in June. So far we have $400 in donations!

Thank You!
I, like you, cringed all month long. But when the day came, I was just content. Content in who I've become and the experiences along the way that have made me me. I hope this self awareness and contentedness continues, I'm sure it will!
That is a wonderful idea, not excepting monetary gifts, therefore donating to a cause! Fantastic and good luck with the fundraising!
